Got a virus?
Follow these simple instructions and you should be able to cure yourself of your ailments.
First, if you cannot access the internet or your computer locks up so
badly that you cannot do anything with it, head to your local library
and download these files.
Malwarebytes
CCleaner
Auslogics Disk Defrag
For the Malwarebytes, because hackers have prevented from being able to
install Malwarebytes by file name, you will need to change the name of
the file prior to trying to run it. Right click on the malwarebytes
installation file you downloaded and rename it to something like
123.exe or whatever you like, make it simple.
If you cannot operate your computer in regular mode, try and boot in
safe mode. When you power up, start hitting the F8 key until you see a
screen that allows you to select "Safe Mode". If your user name does
not have administrator privileges, you will not be able to install
these files.
Install Malwarebytes first. Follow the prompts. LOOK OUT FOR THE
CHECKBOXES ON ALL THREE OF THESE INSTALLATION FILES. They like to
include changing your search criteria like installing the ask.com
toolbar or the yahoo toolbar. Uncheck these items. They slow your
computer down.
After you install Malwarebytes, run a scan. You will need to have
internet access so the files can get updated. Quarantine (usually just
follow the promts to what they suggest) any hits and let the program
disinfect the files.
Next, install CCleaner. Again, watch for the checkboxes trying to
install yahoo, ask or whatever they try. On the left side, it defaults
to "Cleaner". On the bottom, middle, click analyze. Depending on how
much "stuff" is on there, it could take as long as an hour to clean.
When its done, you can review what it has found. If you don't have any
problem deleting what it has found, lower right, click Run Cleaner.
On the left, click on Registry. Scan for issues. You should see a
pretty good list come up. Lower right, click on Fix Selected Issues and
clean them up. You will be prompted to save the file for backup. CLICK
"YES". In case you want to revert your cleaning, if something doesn't
run later, you want to save this. You can restore your Registry with
this file. It defaults to your My Documents folder. That's fine. It
will only take a sec to save.
Once its done, close it.
Now for the last program. Install Auslogics Disk Defrag. When the
program comes up, in the middle of the screen, you will see "Defrag".
Click on the arrow and a drop down list comes up. Do a Deep clean and
optimize. This may take as long as an hour. Once its done, close it.
Reboot your computer.
You should notice a huge difference from what you experienced before. Hope all this helps.
